Cate Injured in ‘Streetcar’ Performance

Various websites are reporting that Cate has been injured during a live performance of A Streetcar Named Desire. Apparently Cate was accidentally struck on the head by a prop radio held by Mr. Edgerton. If this turns out to be true, I hope Cate makes a speedy recovery, my thoughts are with her.

Arts Beat- An Australian production of the Tennessee Williams play “A Streetcar Named Desire” turned more physical that expected for its star, Cate Blanchett, who was injured by a stage prop during a performance Wednesday night, Agence France-Presse reported.

“Object of a new desire”

The Sydney Morning Herald have posted a new article about Cate’s upcoming play, A Streetcar Named Desire. The article also contained a picture which has been added to the gallery.

“Robyn had mentioned years ago that she had the rights when we were talking about doing Hedda Gabler and I thought, ‘Oooh, no,’ ” says Blanchett. “And then I met Liv in London – and I’d been desperate to work with her – and we were talking about various projects for quite some time and then Andrew [Upton, co-artistic director at the STC] brought up Streetcar. Suddenly the temperature in the room changed.”
